Requiem〜
Sponsored by: Jamboneater
Notes:
There is a lot in this song that is hard to make sense of, but if you consider a figure like Yamame lingering within the route between the surface and subterranean hell, reflecting on those who come and go and the state of matters within the earth, it’s a little more cohesive.

nemure nemure toki yo tomare shizuka ni
soko fukaku ni yadore michi no izanai
yuragi yuragi ochiru manekazaru tomo
i to shite sono mitama wa ten’ wo mezashita
Sleep, sleep… Time, rest thy march and be still…
Descend into the depths of the earth yet unknown…
Swaying, swaying… While the many fall uninvited,
Among them, one soul reached instead for the heavens…
moyuru hi mezashite ikusen’ towa no yami wo kakaete
To whom hath sought the burning sun for thousands of years, burdened with eternal darkness—
—in order to repent thy sin, O memory of the upper world, I say, “go forth, and be well”
chi ni nemuru hitomi wa hitosuji no namida dake
tozasareta kokoro ga yureugoku to shin’jiteta
For every tear shed from that eye, which sleeps beneath the earth
I believed her shuttered heart would be, ever so slightly, moved…
nani mo mienu sekai “oitekanaide”
netsu wo obita hane ga michi e izanau
imubeki sono chikara osaekomarete
taga ni tsutsumikakushi chouwa to yon’da
In this world without sight, she implores, “do not leave me behind”
Whilst feverish wings beckon ever toward the unknown
That detestable power of hers forced inward,
Bound and hidden away for a façade of fragile harmony
moyuru hi akogareta chirei wa towa no imi wo kakaete
tsukinai jikan’ ni furueta “saa, ima o-yuki nasai”
To whom hath yearned for the burning flame burdened with eternal meaning—
—shivering through boundless ages, O spirit of the earth, I say, “go forth and be well”
chi wo suberu hitomi wa tada nani mo shiranu you
tozasareta kokoro de yureugoku to shin’jiteta
chi ni nemuru subete wa ten’ no hikari nikun’deita
That eye, which rules the lower earth, seems to know not—
—but I believed her shuttered heart would be, ever so slightly, moved…
Those whom hath sunk into flaming purgatory, saying “no matter if this is the end…”
Indeed, all ye who sleep within the earth, hath hated the light of the heavens…
oshiete sora no iro wo nagekaketa kotoba wa…
togirete todokanai to shiranakatta ano hi made
“Tell me the color of the sky,” I said to thee…
Knowing not my words would fail to reach you, until that day…
ano moyuru hi mezashite ikusen’ towa no yami wo kakaete
To whom hath sought the burning sun for thousands of years, burdened with eternal darkness—
—in order to repent thy sin, O memory of the upper world, I say, “go forth, and be well”
