夕立方程式 // Yuudachi Hoteishiki (Owarimonogatari OP 3/Sodachi Lost OP)

Oikura Sodachi (Yuudachi Hoteishiki)

This is the Sodachi Lost OP. It wasn’t aired on TV, but was packaged with the Blu-Rays, along with a video/short.

全て 失った先に なにが あるの?
全部 とっくに あきらめてた はずなのに

dakedo nan’do demo kimi ni kitai shite wa
hon’no wazuka na kakuritsu no umi ni tobikomu

What will the future hold, once I’ve lost everything?
I thought I had given up on it all long ago, but
Again and again I find myself putting my expectations in you
Diving into the seas of chance, for the smallest of possibilties

私が なにで できてるのか
永遠に ねぇ 君は気付きそうにない

watashi ga nani de dekiteru no ka

You will probably never realize,
Will you? Just what I am made of…

Before your innocent smile, I am defenseless
While a future I do not know begins
Our formula, the one that proves who we are
Surely cannot be solved by anyone but us

Even though you’re probably just going to forget me again
Even though even happiness can be turned on its head
Caught in a sudden downpour, though we’re only taking shelter from the rain
This world of running blurs right now belongs to just you and me

君が どう 思ってくれてるのか
このきもちには ねぇ 関係ないけど

kimi ga dou omottekureteru no ka

But it doesn’t matter to my feelings
However you may be thinking of us

mathemagics (終物語 / Owarimonogatari OP2) [Full]

I should be working on other things right now, but I couldn’t resist.

※Due to the wishes of the author(s), the lyrics have been displayed as numbers. Please understand.

Yes the lyrics booklet has numbers. Luckily it uses the simplest cipher known to mankind.

[Code Bracket Start]
a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z

1=hito/ichi (when before a set of numbers that would cause out of range exceptions if 1 was not treated as a separate entity)
[Code Bracket End]

I didn’t change much from how I translated the short version.
The verb used for “knocked off my feet” is the same verb you would use when describing “pushing a woman down onto a bed”. Food for thought.

Where is my Sodachi figure!?

15 Songs

Ibuki Suika (shou shishi)

It’s kind of shocking for me, but I haven’t posted in over a month! I’ve been really busy at work, and I continue to be busy professionally translating manga, and I keep forgetting about things.

I actually should probably be working on something else right now, to be honest.

All the same, I’ve got a bottle of vodka, and I’m going to use that as an excuse.

I recently read [this post] over at someone else’s blog and thought that I wanted to do something similar.

I know – you know – that I’m incapable of picking a “top 15” of anything, but here are a few songs I’d like to call attention to. I will try to avoid overlap as much as possible, and I will also put several playlists down at the bottom. [I am too tired – maybe later.]

So here is a selection of 15 Touhou songs I remember:

15. “Cinnamon, Cinnamon” (蒼 -aoi-) [全自動少女 – Automata Girl] [SoundCloud]
arr. “有頂天変 ~ Wonderful Heaven”

Automata Girl will forever be a reminder to me that some things fail. While some tracks from the past get lost in oblivion forever, Automata Girl was lost in the oblivion of the future. This is a track that was scheduled to be on their second album, which they never released. It is spectacular and probably the best of the lot.

Long live the Taisho Era!

14. “Clarity Green” (YAMAGEN) [Nuclear Blast | Pizuya’s Cell x MyonMyon] [YT]
arr. “緑眼のジェラシー”

Clarity Green is probably the quietest vocal track to ever come out of PizuyaxMyonMyon and it has stuck with me forever, mainly due to the perfect utilization of godwood’s piano. Even if you’re not one to like the harder stuff like [Romantic Children♥], you can enjoy this.

13. “Nuclear Fusion” (佳織みちる) [Trois Noir | Alstroemeria Records] [YT]
arr. “霊知の太陽信仰 ~ Nuclear Fusion”

There is not another Touhou arrangement in existence, that I know of, that sounds less like its original… yet it works. This song has a bit of a desolate sense to it and has an insane nostalgia factor because it’s from one of the first Touhou albums I listened to.

12. “You’re the love of my life…” (花咲あんな) [Perpetual Devotion | EastNewSound] [YT] [YT]
arr. “耀く針の小人族 ~ Little Princess”

There are about 3 EastNewSound tracks that I like post Felsic Mirage, and this is one, a big one. Now there are other great ENS songs like Black Lotus and Lucent Wish and Lucid Dream and booklet choir, but I didn’t want this to be all about older songs. ENS is one of those groups that used to be my favorite group, but my love for them eventually evaporated. I still adore everything up to Felsic Mirage, but I’m not sure there’s a real objective reason.

There are really only 3 groups I still like as much as when I first encountered them.

They are Shibayan, Shinigiwa Satellite, and…

11. “サナエさん” [騙 | RD-Sounds/凋叶棕] [YT]
arr. N/A (Sanae-san)

RD-Sounds. If we’re ever going to be objective, in any way shape or form, RD-Sounds is the best Touhou arranger there ever was. This is in part because he is also a brilliant lyricist and every one of his songs has an impact in some way. If 嘘と慟哭 doesn’t make you weep, there’s something wrong with you.

Anyway, to Sanae-san. This song is a Touhou song without using any ZUN song as its basis, but oh, is it a Touhou arrangement. The instrumentals are fantastic, and the multi-character hearsay setup… This song is possibly the most memorable and most iconic RD song, and so it’s on this list.

10. “この船は藺草の香り” (Shibayan) [Shibayan Records | キセキ☆インパルス Emotional Feedback] [YT]
arr. 幽霊客船の時空を越えた旅

This is the first track from the first real Shibayan noise album, and the first I’d ever heard of him. I often go on obsessive rants about how much I love Shibayan, but I rarely get the chance to mention this track, though one of his most addictive, because I’m usually centering on vocal tracks. It’s relentlessly percussive and fantastic.

09. “漆黒スターダスト” (衛☆星太郎) [Lover’s Requiem EP | 死際サテライト] [YT]
arr. 恋色マスタースパーク

To my knowledge, the first Shinigiwa Satellite vocal song. How can these lyrics be so good? Even though the Merami vocal age of Shinigiwa has hit its prime, I still long for the rough screamo Ei-Seitarou vocals often. I could have very well put 戦慄オルレアン or 消滅アモルファス in this slot, but really I have this pain in my heart for those who don’t think Shinigiwa Satellite is the best damn thing since electricity.

If this doesn’t convince you try some Merami-era 妖仙ドライヴ, and 静寂ラストダンス, and then everything else they’ve ever done.

08. 紅楼 ~ Eastern Dream (Demetori) [Demetori | 如臨深遠 ~雨縒煙柳~] [YT]
arr. 紅楼 ~ Eastern Dream

Demetori’s masterpiece, and longest song. My three favorite Demetori songs are 紅楼 ~ Eastern Dream, 少女が見た日本の原風景 ~ Dance of puNDarika, and 天空の花の都 ~ Bridge of The Lotus, but I don’t know, there’s something special about Eastern Dream. It puts you in a trance.

07. “Philosophus Hortum”/”Mandshurica” (梶迫迅八) [Sept Florum | 梶迫小道具店/Cajiva’s Workshop] [Soundcloud XFD]
arr. 衛星トリフネ / ラストオカルティズム~現し世の秘術師

Yes, this album just came out. Yes, this is two tracks and not just one. Yes, this (Mandshurica) is a Last Occultism Arrangement. No, you probably don’t have access to it anywhere. This is Cajiva’s Tribal House Music. Mandshurica has sampled rap in it as well. Sept Florum is an addicting album in a strange genre. These albums sometimes come with stories, like 炎上 and 水なき海を往く, of loli Renko and treachery and murder. If I am one day freed from the bonds of life I’d love to translate them.

At any rate, this: [XFD-Album Page]

Flandre Scarlet (ZYTOKINE's gold*)
06. “GOLD” (itori) [gold* | CYTOKINE/ZYTOKINE] [YT]
arr. 御伽の国の鬼が島

The artist formerly known as…

Anyway. That aside. Itori. Itori is beautiful. I rarely like Zytokine without Itori. This is Itori supreme. I think I bought this album multiple times just for this one track. I mean, we all love to see Flandre in pajamas, but this is a Suica song. Itori’s voice is beautiful.

This reminds me of “L’Amour Toujours”… I feel old-ish.

05. “桜花之恋塚 ~ Flower of Life” (陽花) [Re:Starlights & An Umbrella | 発熱巫女~ず] [YT]
arr. 桜花之恋塚 ~ Japanese Flower

I am absolutely sure that this song brought FELT into existence. Anyway, this is the remix, but the original is just as good, just far less FELT-like. There’s a piercing power to Youka’s voice here and and a few shifts takes a playful sounding song and makes it into something incredibly moving. It didn’t take me long to get tired of FELT, but this style really is something. You haven’t listened to “Japanese Flower” if you haven’t heard it in this incarnation.

04. “Primula” (ARM) [bloom | IOSYS]
arr. ハルトマンの妖怪少女

Why wasn’t there another “bloom”? The world bleeds because there was only one “bloom”. Samplejunk and noise this is the best thing I think that ARM has ever put out.

Usami Renko (From the "Mary had a little love" album booklet)
03. “鉄塔” (utashima) [Mary had a little love | <echo>Project] [YT]
arr. 天空のグリニッジ

A spiritual predecessor to Automata Girl, Mary had a little love is a great, full interconnected Hifuu album. I think Tettou stands out because of the surrealism of the lyrics and the style of the music. It also tends to cause my headphones, my ears and random objects to harmonize and make radio noise….

02. “Back Door” (坂上なち) [white clear | Syrufit] [YT] [Babbe Remix]
arr. 魔法使いの憂鬱

The infamous “the lyrics here have been witheld at the request of the lyricist” song. I felt challenged. Like one of those throw down your glove things. It’s one of the Syrufit songs that tends to stick with me the most, and Babbe’s [remix] is flat out amazing.

I wanted to put “「I」” or “Stigma” from Sensitive Moment around here somewhere, but I’ve already done a post on Syrufit before: [link]

01. “月齢11.3のキャンドルマジック” (3L) [ ココロバイブレーション | Shibayan Records] [YT]
arr. ラクトガール ~ 少女密室

Yep. This song. Everyone knows this song, right? I hope so.

Mahal Ko, Mahal Kita.

The part where 3L sings “NOよ 要らないわ!” is one of my favorite musical moments of all time.

And those high notes…

Izayoi Sakuya / show me your love

Speaking of the undead. There’s been a saying going along that of which the gist of is this: “If we mourn for Syrufit as if they’re dead, maybe just maybe they’ll jump right back out at us with angry faces and a, ‘We’re not dead yet!’ resuming the manufacturing of music we all love and miss.” – to which I say “Great, let’s be nostalgic and listen to some Syrufit!”

What was the first song I came across those attempting to resurrect Syrufit?

我亲爱傀儡 / Wǒ Qīn’ài Guīlěi / Wa ga Shin’ai naru Kairai

…but of course, that’s Shibayan, not Syrufit.

If Syrufit’s in the grave I think they just pulled the blanket over their heads again.

…now I love 我亲爱傀儡 even though I can’t properly pronounce it, using the kan’bun’ reading (last one) instead of the Chinese. What would be best would be to investigate how it would be said in 霍青娥娘々/Seiga Nyan-Nyan’s time, but right now that’s not so important. Kwairai (我亲爱傀儡) is a guest track on a Syrufit album, just like アモリタチテカミトミユ is.

Syrufit / Studio “Syrup Comfiture” is: – “Syrufit”: Arrange, Guitar, Mixing, Mastering, Lyrics, Project
TAK-sk – “Poplica*”: Arrange, Synthesizer Manipulation
(SHIKI – Vocal, Lyrics, Chorus)

Only the early works name – collectively called “Syrufit” for an album or two, but after C77 they were renamed Syrufit( and Poplica*(=TAK-sk). SHIKI was last recorded as part of Syrufit/Studio “Syrup Comfiture” as of C79.

Let’s not forget, also, that Syrufit was around before they started publishing their own albums, as Syrufit/Anipix.

If you want to hear singing, look no further than Sensitive Moment, 墨染亡我郷.

Anyway, let us put it up for one of the world’s worst DJ’s (referencing a DJ session with REDALiCE and Masayoshi Minoshima), and a group we hope comes back to the Doujin Touhou Arranged Music scene.

Here are a few tracks that I recommend if you haven’t listened to yet.

Unrelated, I promise to be not-dead for RTS.

Anticipating C83

My 900th Post!!!

Now let’s get going, Comic Market 83 is just around the corner, only a week away!

I’m going to try to cover as much as I can, but I’ve been sick (actually I tried to write this yesterday, but kept on getting dizzy sitting at the computer), so if I miss something here or there or rush through it too quickly, please forgive me… (。ŏ﹏ŏ)

I’ll also cover a “How to Order” section near the end, for those new to all of this.

As with the previous anticipating posts I will continually update this page until C83 is over. I have stopped numbering the list, but I will keep a total count and will continuously rearrange as my hype towards a particular album changes. If you want an album that isn’t on this list covered, ask for it in the comments.

Albums with multiple links (*s) may have the xfd in the second or third link. Sometimes you have to find a link on the page if there isn’t a soundcloud/youtube/nicovideo/MP3 applet.

The Anticipated List

Shibayan Records’ [マジコカタストロフィ] Mágico Catástrofe” [*]

I am really, really excited for this one. I mean, where do I begin? NuDisco? Hell yeah bring it on!! I feel that this CD captures everything about Shibayan’s electronic music, from his first albums (makes me think of Assortment of Sense) to his newest ones. Noise, video game music, a bit of disco, relaxing BGM and moe overload. “Fall in the Dark” straight up makes me want to dance. I don’t think yana’s voice has ever fit a song better. The two tracks I’m most excited about are “Clockup Flowers” and “Myoisia”. I catch a silly moe fever and completely overload when I listen to the Myoisia part of the crossfade. Now Ranko has sung once for Shibayan before, but it didn’t have nearly the effect on me as Clockup Flowers does – the beat and stress of Ranko’s voice just works perfectly together. Though I love Ranko’s voice, I get the feeling that since her voice is so unique, there are only a handful of arrangers apart from Comp that can properly utilize her. This shows me that Shibyan is to be counted among them. The last track “Love” (it’s Morse code) – I don’t know if it’ll end up anywhere near 11.3 Candle Magic on my list of favorite Locked Girl arrangements, but what we hear so far is very promising.

If I can get the scans soon, the vocal tracks on this album will start my next year of lyrics translation.

凋叶棕/RD-Sound’s [辿/誘] “-tadori/izanai-” [*] [*] [*]

RD has an extreme level of talent when it comes to producing transcendental instrumentals and pairing those instrumentals with spellbinding lyrics while pushing every vocalist he uses past their limits. He makes me fall in love with songs arranged from original tunes I don’t even like that much. He likes working with themes and intricate langauge, so I listen to this crossfade with the knowledge that I’m not even scraping the surface of what I’ll experience when I listen to these two albums in their entirety. Yes, two albums, they are both seven tracks and mirrors of each other. The first, “Tadori” which means “to reach a destination” is made up of one instrumental and six vocal tracks. The second, “Izanai” which means “to call for, or invite” is made up of one vocal and six instrumental tracks. Each numbered track on one album corresponds with the other in what they are arranged from. I can’t wait to piece together the story, especially because RD’s storytelling is so fantastic his instrumental tracks even hold stories. The glimpses we hear in these two beautiful crossfades is enough to tell me that I will be listening to these two CDs for days and days on end, just like I did with Katari. I suggest listening to these crossfades yourself and letting your imagination paint for you.

Forgive me if I can’t pick a favorite track, I love all of them so far, so I’ll reserve my judgement for when I listen to them in their entirety. (“the beautiful world” already is getting me though just on its passion…)

The track “Left Behind” on “Tadori” is from T★GIRLS.03, and I have already translated it [here]

Foreground Eclipse+Draw The Emotional’ “Seated with Liquor” [*]

Now I’m a fan of both Foreground Eclipse and Draw the Emotional, but haven’t heard much from either of them lately, so I’m glad they’re getting together to release a CD – in the words of Teto, “Why didn’t we think of this before!?!?” The CD starts strong with Draw the Emotional, and then Foreground Eclipse, and then the last two tracks crossovers. I think the composition of the album holds together really well with matching levels of melodic vocals, instrumentals and screams. Three of the tracks are Foreground Eclipse originals, but really, I’ve been coming to love Fogra’s originals just as much as their arrangements – they’ve really developed a good original sound.

Some of the tracks are re-released from either demos or band/lyricist-swapped from earlier albums, but the quality of the recording is upped for the demos and everything still feels fresh. This is a must have.

I have “Escapes” already translated here: [link]

ぴずやの独房/Pizuya’s Cell’s “Nouvelle Maliee” [*]

First of all, that a very flattering “Nouvelle” rendition of both Merry and Renko. It’s hot. Erhem. Now to the music…

The first impressions I get from this album are “Gothic” and “Deep”. I like that two of the vocal tracks are paired with instrumentals (I’m in love with Godwood). I believe that this album is going to jump ahead of the other recent Pizuya albums, no matter how brilliant they were. “Dreaming” already feels like it’s taking me away somewhere before it’s portion ends, the Dichromatic Butterfly track has strong vocals with a mystifying sound driving the instrumentals, the instrumentals behind “Alone in the Snow” make me think of the Phendrena Drifts from Metroid Prime, Spineless NeOvil feels very gothic, with just enough childishness in the vocals to give a perfect image of Satori, “Red Merry” might end up being my favorite track on this one – I don’t know, but I just feel drawn to it, and finally “Exhausted life” is similar to “Alone in the snow” and kind of reminds me (at least atmospherically) of songs done by 少女病. All in all a very solid album, with more.. depth to it. I’m very interested in reading the lyrics.

I was expecting another track from SOPHIA this time around, but rather than feeling disappointed as I thought I might, I don’t think she would really have a place in this album, and I’m glad how it seems to be turning out. It’ll be nice to see her featured in another album somewhere down the road though.

死際サテライト/Shinigiwa Satellite’s “The Forgotten EP” [*] [*]

What can I say? I love these guys. I love the demo – and hope that Eiseitarou at least does the background vocals when Merami takes over for the main vocals in the release. I think they’ve been sort of solidifying their sound recently and I have no complaints. Apart from “仏滅ヴァイオレット/Butsumetsu Violet/Violet and the Death of the Buddha” which sounds like it’ll be one of my favorites when it’s done, the news of a Septet arrangement with “忘却ドラクレア/Boukyaku Dracula/Oblivion Dracula” and a Plain Asia arrangement “盈月モンスター/Eigetsu Monster/Waxing Moon’s Monster” has me on the edge of my seat. I’ll have to at least try to transcribe some of these. As much as Shinigiwa makes fun of themselves and suggests that their music might be used as a weapon onto others, I love them and will stick with them ’til the very end!!!

サリー/Sally’s [ピグマリオン] “Pygmalion” [*]

Another wonderful cover, with a perfect title.

“アイス/Ice” (Sally’s last album) didn’t really grab me last time, but does that mean I was going to stop following Sally? Sally is one of the best groups to hit Touhou in a long time. NSY and Wani have be fantastic arrangers – I mean I should be dead bored of Necrofantasia arrangements, I really should, but I want to light a candle or a lighter or what have you as soon as the crossfade opens with Ranko singing “A Lavender in Valley”. It’s beautiful. If I knew more about music theory I might be able to say why I love NSY/Wani’s arrangements so much, maybe it’s the complexity, the minor keys, the off-notes taking you away from what you were expecting, what you’ve heard millions of times in other arrangements, they allow you to see these songs in a new light, which I think is the most important thing with any arrangement be it musical or visual or literary.

Chata’s voice mixes well with the hand drums and acoustic guitar, it might turn out to be one of my favorites sung by her, at least for Sally. As with Dominated Dancehall, this album is an album – every track complements the next. I know I say this everytime, but IZNA’s grown on me. I find myself looking more forward to her tracks than Chata or even Ranko’s sometimes. “アドレナリン/Adrenaline” is both smooth and incredibly powerful.

IMITATE makes my skin crawl, and I love it. I don’t know what it is but I like music that makes you a little uncomfortable; it ends up drawing you in deeper and deeper. Kind of like your curiosity’s got you this far, but now you’re going ahead half because you’re too afraid to turn around. This might be the first track I translate off this album.

“Melody” is much brighter and lighter, and thus complements “IMITATE” very well I think, and then along the same train of thought, we drop into a heavier beat for “W” which goes up and down in brightness – the guitar is spectacular.

“ユビキリ/Yubikiri” wraps up the album with a last bit of flair. It’s done by a guest arranger who sounds like he uses more distortion and reverberation but I think it matches the atmosphere of “The Dollmaker of Bucheresti” and works spectacularly.

鶫/Tsugumi’s “Ark Dark Half” [*]

First off “Tsugumi” is “powered by サリー/Sally”.

I think it was more that NSY and ワニ hadn’t had enough of Ten Desires and wanted to go back and rearrange those tracks – in different ways. I actually liked Tsugumi’s debut album ten times better than I did “アイス” even though they’re powered by the same arrangers (with the addition of nice_s). (This time around I think I’ll like Pygmalion more, but it’s a closer match.) If I had to describe Tsugumi, I would say it is Sally with a much lighter mood, brighter vocalists, less gothic and more.. moe? (at least in the lyrics?) – That doesn’t mean there aren’t dark or instrument heavy sections to the music sometimes, like “E-A-R” gets very heavy, but overall I think it’s brighter music, more major progressions and what not, but maybe I’m crazy and it’s just the vocalists. I’ll leave the finer details to music theory experts.

All of the tracks sound great and I don’t want to point absolute favorites (maybe Silent, St. Shine, or 8 -eight-), but I can promise I’ll be heading for this album to translate very quickly.

Demetori’s “Tendre est la Mort” [*] [*]

Unfortunately the demo crossfades available (second link) are just the first 45 seconds of each track rather than picked from somewhere in the middle, so we’re hardly given a good impression of what the music will really be like, but I love Demetori – they’re one of the best metal instrumental groups out there and I’m sure they’ll give 古きユアンシェン and ハートフェルトファンシー more than just justice. While “曼衍珠汝華 ~ Nada Upasana Pundarika” is still my favorite album of theirs I think they’ve far from peaked and I am very very glad they seem to be releasing more regularly now. So even though this is only an EP, I’m excited for both it and more that will surely come.

岸田教団&THE明星ロケッツ/Kisida Kyodan & The Akeboshi Rockets’s [ロックンロールラボラトリ] “Rock and Roll Laboratory” [*] [*]

The comments on the tracks for this CD are all over the place so I don’t know for sure, but I believe that this is a -mostly- Original CD. The first track, “Cause to Decide” Is the theme to the second episode of WORLD END ECONOMiCA [link] which appears to be a doujinshi visual novel. The second track, “Alchemy” is “Done with World End Economica in mind, but nothing else”. The third track, “熱病/Netsubyou/Fever” has lyrics done by Yapi~san. The fourth track, “SleepDisorder (2012)” is a retake of the song of the same name that they did (as an image song presumably) for Kamiya Yuu’s manga “Greed Packet Unlimited” (I’ve read the first volume. It’s silly :3 / Others that have done image songs for this manga include Cool and Create) The fifth and final track, “自由への賛歌/Jiyuu e no Sanka/A Hymn to Freedom” was supposed to be an AyaxHatate song arranged by RD, but … apparently they forgot to record a portion of the song based on RD’s music base and so a some parts of it are completely non-RD and some are and some aren’t and … “We prostrated ourselves before him and he said, ‘Uh… well.. what’s done is done I guess…’ and I calmed down a bit.” Still, the track sounds good and maybe we’ll have another partnership with RD and Kisida again sometime \o/

Either way, I love Kisida and the album sounds like it’s got a lot of energy, so I’m excited for it.

Alstroemeria Records’ “DOMINATED DANCEHALL” [*]

First of all, that cover’s erotic, espcially with the title. Now that that’s out of the way…

I didn’t dislike the last Alstroemeria Records’ release “The World Destination” I really liked a couple of the tracks (like Crimson Dead and In the Flickering) but it just didn’t have the same … I don’t know? flair? – as the previous “DANCEHALL” titled albums. I’m glad to see arrangements of rare tracks such as “Extra Love” and “陽落ちて/Nightfall” Apart from “Extra Love” and “Nightfall” I really like Nhato’s “Dead Space” and Camellia’s “WI[RE/ED] PUZZLE”. I think that “Cinderella Cage” was remixed very well – it’s that ZYOKINE beauty without any breaks to the developed mood. This is an album that I feel I’ll be able to listen to much more as a whole, and that’s really important to me. The original track RAVE LAUNCHER MK.II helps to bring the arrangements together and doesn’t detract at all. Night Bird and Oriental Magician (and FIX) tie up the end of the album perfectly.

So again, my favorites will probably be “Nightfall”, “Dead Space” and “WI[RE/ED] PUZZLE”… so “Nightfall” will probably be the first I try to translate. I’ll promise to make a Skyfall joke somewhere.

全自動少女/Automata Girl’s [櫻雨キネマトグラフ~大正壹佰年奇譚~] “Sakuraame Cinématographe ~Taishou Ippyakunen’ Kitan~” [*]

This is a branch circle/branch project headed by <echo>PROJECT’s Mano and 平茸 under the “fishy sounding” pseudonym 飴野ヲルカ “Ameno Orca”. Sakuraame Cinematographe’s subtitle “Taishou Ippyakunen’ Kitan” means “Mystical Tale of A Hundred Years of the Taisho Era”, the Taisho era being a very short, very “renaissance” sort of era in Japanese history, before militarization swept all that under the rug.

<echo>Project’s last major release “Mary had a Little Love” is to this day one of my favorite Touhou albums of all time. While I don’t see Sakuraame Cinematographe outdoing it, it might come close; you can make out the similarities in the arrangements. The music itself feels like old style with modern embellishment and in part reminds me of the BGMs for Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. On principle, I think うたしま’s song “モダンガアル街を往く。/Modern Girl Machi wo Yuku.” is my favorite, though I like the (pardon the word) orientalism of “ゼンマヰ仕掛けの神は斯く語りき。/Sen;mai Shikake no Kami wa Kaku Katariki.” really grabs me as well as some of the more upbeat songs like “Hide and Secret.”, but also “識らぬが佛、視ぬが秘事。/Satoranu ga Hotoke, Minu ga Hiji.” and especially “然様ならば。/Sayou naraba.” I’m really hoping for fantastic lyrics to match this music, because if it’s anything like “Mary had a Little Love”…

The more I listen to this, the more it’s growing on me. – Really, I can hardly keep up with all this music.

豚乙女/Buta-Otome’s チェス “Chess” [*]

I still don’t think I’ve given “Bowling” enough attention and here we are with another Buta-Otome original CD. It’s very lively and very much their style. While I don’t ever see Buta-Otome “going downhill” like I’ve felt with many other groups. I have to admit, I like their originals even more than their Touhou arrangements lately, which is saying a lot, because about 90% of all I listen to is Touhou arranged music. Both this and “Bowling” feel like they’re from a separate age of music. It feels like modernized carnival music almost, but it’s very personal and has me searching my memories for something I’m not sure is there, like an empty nostalgia or something.

This is a strong addition to Buta-Otome’s original track record (puns intended), and I’m glad to see them putting more focus into original work.

豚乙女/Buta-Otome’s ひかり “Hikari” [*]

This is the closest thing that’s ever come to a “muted” Buta-Otome album, but I don’t dislike it. Every track arrangement is a “coupling” of at least two original tracks and more specifically, two characters (all of them famous matches really). It’s interesting to listen to each arrangement flow into each other. It’ll be good easy listening, and I’m sure the lyrics will be great service to fans of each pairing.

How to Proxy Order

[Coming Soon]

Waxing Nostalgic

“Hallucinations can occur in any sensory modality — visual, auditory, olfactory (smell), gustatory (taste), tactile, proprioceptive (perception of self), equilibrioceptive (perception of balance), nociceptive (perception of pain), thermoceptive (perception of temperature) and chronoceptive (perception of the rate at which time passes).”

“One of the most common forms of hallucination occurs when your brain simply fails to distinguish between an internal stimuli, like ‘a voice in your head’, and an eternal stimuli.”

“High caffeine consumption has been linked to an increase in the likelihood of experiencing auditory hallucinations. A study conducted by the La Trobe University School of Psychological Sciences revealed that as few as five cups of coffee a day could trigger the phenomenon.”

“A 1996-1999 survey of over 13,000 people, reported a much higher figure, with almost 39% of people reporting hallucinatory experiences, 27% of which were daytime hallucinations, mostly outside the context of illness or drug use. From this survey, olfactory and gustatory hallucinations seem the most common in the general population.”

So I had a nostalgia trip the other day, in which I experienced olfactory (strong and often), gustatory (weak but often), visual (short-lived but strong and in 2-3 second flashes), and tactile (short-lived, weak, and not very often) hallucinations. Now I don’t do drugs or anything and this isn’t too uncommon for me (when I was young and religious I was sure I had the god-given gift of having visions), especially with a mixture of caffeine and some alcohol ^^, but listening to music that I used to listen to all the time forced up some memories I’ve associated with said music, strengthened by the brain fuel that is caffeine and sugar, and with alcohol probably keeping my brain from holding up that line that distinguishes fantasy from reality. Anyway that was the start, but it just snowballed and snowballed … if iyou follow me on Twitter you probably got a glimpse. I’m still sensitive to the olfactory and gustatory ones right now, but with all the alcohol out of my system I’ve got a better internal grasp that they aren’t real ^^;

Anyway, the brain is awesome huh? It can remember not only “data” but entire sensory states. When everything was at its strongest I felt really time dissociated, most of my senses were reporting on things that happened a really long time ago and yet I still just had enough of “normal” mode senses reminding me I was actally just sitting down at my computer.

I really have set myself up for these sorts of things with all the music I listened to and looped to sort of form triggers. One of the very clear and kind of funny ones that’s not really entirely associated with memory is because of the fact that I listened to Bibamus.moriendum.est (Touhou Piano Album, by Pizuya/Godwood), and only Bibamus.moriendum.est, the entire time I read The Lord of the Rings (I’ve done this 2-3 times), whenever I hear that music I cannot not think of hobbits and the like, even though I already have a very firm musical association between Touhou characters and their themes, but for this one album the Hobbit association trumps.

When I was studying for my differential equations final, back in my first semester of college, I listened to a particular playlist the entire time, and only kept time in units of 4 hours (the length of the playlist) when a song would come back around… Anyway, there were lots of moments like this, so if you think you have some triggers, go ahead and attempt to dive into the vast expanse that is nostalgia. It’s a science experiment!

Anyway, what started this entire thing was me being a bit depressed by the fact that EastNewSound is not what they used to be. I’m not going to say they’re bad or anything (for instance, I quite enjoyed the song I translated last post), and with so many variables in play, if I heard some of the songs that hooked me then for the first time now, my response might be “meh”. But I can’t deny that while maybe there was a song here or there I liked, “Felsic Mirage” is the last EastNewSound album I cared for, and it’s probably my favorite one, so the drop from favorite, suddenly into “not interesting to me at all” might have just been too great a shock. One of my favorite members Izumin, left right after Felsic Mirage, and was kind of never heard from sense.

Enough mourning over EastNewSound. The point is that especially after this crazy nostalgia trip that I experienced, I wanted to do my own version of “Games You Might Not Have Tried (Or Heard of)” that Extra Credits (web show about video games) does – “Touhou Music You Might Not Have Listened To”. Extra Credits’ disclaimer is “I’m not promising all these games are good, just interesting.” My disclaimer… “I’m not expecting for any of you to like all of these, I did, but my tastes are strange and my tastes have sort of changed too, and this is an opportunity to listen to some of the older stuff of groups you might be listening to now.”

Touhou Music You Might Not Have Listened To:
(Every track listed below was released 2009 or earlier, (with the exception of Felsic Mirage))
This timeline puts everything before Buta-Otome, Draw the Emotional, and excludes RD-Sounds, Foreground Eclipse, and Shinigiwa Satellite (who were emerging unknown to me at the time), and although they were around in full swing – I hadn’t heard of Kisida Kyoudan yet.

少女が見た日本の原風景/REINE OKTAVE (東方紅楼夢4) [Piano]
Shoujo ga Mita Nihon no Genfuukei

Crazy Clock Cracker→Romantic Children, Meteralice/The Grimoire of Alice (東方紅楼夢4) [Piano→Metalcore]
 Pizuya,Myon,Godwood,Tsuuten/Pizuya’s Cell x MyonMyon

I found these two albums before I knew what Touhou was, or that these two albums were “Touhou Arrangements”. When I found out about “The Grimoire of Alice”, my immedate reaction was: “Wait Romantic Children is from a game!?” *panicked rush to find game* This is why I actually played the PC-98 games first, and found out about the windows games about a month later, when I realized REINE OKTAVE was a Touhou arranged album as well.

It is not a lie to say I picked up these two because I liked the album art and weird title on the first, and the second for the art and latching on to the name “Alice”. (The strange dark-setting Alice in Wonderland I imagined out of this music was pretty crazy if I remember correctly.)

REINE OKTAVE’s 少女が見た日本の原風景 is very intricate, and I’ve always been disappointed I haven’t heard anything like it from CYTOKINE since.

I put Crazy Clock Cracker→Romantic Children to put a little emphasis on the transition. The short piano piece by Godwood is toned down, so the immediate volume jump from track one to track two would always hit you hard. The same effect was employed in Prunus Subhirtella, but it didn’t feel as severe. Other tracks off “The Grimoire of Alice” that I’d like to emphasize are “WEII -World’s End Est-“, and “Mind is Love Holic Pt.2”.

Not too long ago Pizuya remade “The Grimoire of Alice” with all male vocals as “Resurrection Ballad”. Though it wasn’t well received some of the instrumentals were cleaned up, and it wasn’t bad (I really liked the “Meteralice” remake, and “WEII -World’s End Est- came out alright) – but it’s just not the same. Prunus Subhirtella was remade a bit better.

幽霊楽団, 信仰は儚き人間の為に/Knights of Round (C73) [Symphonic Rock/Speed Metal]
Yuureigakudan, Shinkou wa Hakanaki Ningen no Tame ni
 Eru, Ex-calibur/Knights of Round

I still hold 幽霊楽団 and 信仰は儚き人間の為に by Knights of Round in high esteem even in post-discovery-of-Demetori, mainly because they carry a different atmospheric with them that just seems to work better with these songs. 幽霊楽団 carries itself with (probably synthesized) violin and 信仰は儚き人間の為に just relies on its breakneck speed.

Strawberry Crisis!!, Invisible Full Moon/For Your Pieces (C74) [Vocal/Electronic]
Sakaue Nachi, Haruna, Masayoshi Minoshima/Alstroemeria Records

“I am just waiting for you I… Tell me what you want…”

Invisible Full Moon is strange and has a strong rhythmic beat, like an undercurrent. Strawberry Crisis has it too, but breaks out into the smoother flow that was pretty much Masayoshi Minoshima’s trance style at the time.

fof, night falls/Assortment of Sense (C74) [Electro-Trance]
 Shibayan/Shibayan Records

fof is a light sort of trance that’s easy to listen to, and “night falls” just makes you feel uncomfortable. But strangely enough, that’s why I like it so much. It’s long and very disconcerting, so much that it’s really easy to trance out and lose yourself in. This is pre-noise Shibayan with 831 delivering a sort of “bossa-nova-ish piano” on a track here and there (幻視の娘 for example) 厄神が恋した幻想郷 is also a recommendation.

Voyage 1969, Retrospective Kyoto/Nite Versions (例大祭3) [Trance/Atmospheric]
 Masayoshi Minoshima/Alstroemeria Records

Break the Sabbath, Flowering Night/Signature (東方紅楼夢4) [Trance]
 Masayoshi Minoshima/Alstroemeria Records

This music carried me through many a night drive back and forth between Austin, Houston, and DFW. The two songs on Nite Versions I noted are also on Signature, but it was after listening to Nite Versions than I got a hold of Signature.

I have never heard a song as repetitive as Masayoshi Minoshima’s “Flowering Night” and yet somehow it works. Maybe it’s just because I’m the kind of person that loops songs over and over again.

Tag, Fallen Heaven (REDALiCE Remix), Nuclear Fusion/Trois Rouge, Trois Bleu, Trois Noir (C75) [Vocal Pop/Techno]
Misato, Misawa Aki, Kaori Michiru, REDALiCE, Tsukasa, Masayoshi Minoshima
/Alice’s Emotion, Sound Online, Alstroemeria Records

When these albums came out, still young in my Touhou knowledge, I could only name two characters (Marisa and Reimu) out of all three of the album covers. I only listened to REDALiCE’s remix of Fallen Heaven, because I thought Tsukasa’s version was too slow. “For Lovers not Fighters”, “Resonance Effect” and “Prominence” are another trio I’d throw in.

Awakening Bugs that Cold Dislike, Back to the Colorful Road, Prunus Subhirtella/Prunus Subhirtella (C75) [Metalcore]
 Pizuya,Myon,Godwood,Tsuuten/Pizuya’s Cell x MyonMyon

I’ve already talked about Pizuya a lot and since the remakes of these songs have come up -very- recently in CORONeT and Prunus Centifolia I’m going to keep this short, but I can’t tell you how thrilled I was when I found out about the remakes. SOPHIA flat out nailed Back to the Colorful Road too. If you liked either of those albums at all, give Prunus Subhirtella a listen to hear their original forms.

空ろなるヘリオスフィア, シンクロニシティ/Catharis (C76) [Gothic Symphonic Rock]
 Utsuro naru Heliosphere, Synchronicity

Intense Gothic Symphonic Rock. Enough said. Darker than Pizuya’s stuff, this sort of held the transition bridge until I found Demetori, because I wasn’t really looking for anything “darker” just “more intense”.

Scarlet Fogbound/Aspherical Surface e.p. (例大祭6) [Vocal Trance]
 mican*, Masayoshi Minoshima/Alstroemeria Records

This remains one of my favorite Alstroemeria songs of all time. I prefer this version to the one featured on Fragment Reactions, and this is one of the first songs I point people to if Alstroemeria is being discussed.

Rhododendron, Primula, Helichrysum, Poppy/bloom (例大祭6) [Synth/Sampling/Noise]

“Since the far off day when man first heard a scratchy noise on a cylindrical drum, accompanied by a stacatto human tone, it has been his aim to add breadth and depth.”

“Here’s all Touhou’s Instrumental Arrange Open, Oh! It’s Showtime! Of Girls in a Gorgeous Land!”

I wait, and wait, and wait, and wait for ARM to produce another one of these albums. I got so addicted to this album I never really fully recovered. This album might be the reason I latched on so quickly to Shibayan’s noise. Which leads on to…

この船は藺草の香り, 蝶ノ華, アナタガモトメルモノ, わたしはこねこ/キセキ☆インパルス~emotional feedback (M3-24) [Noise/Vocal/Percussive Techno]
Kono Fune wa Igusa no Kaori, Chou no Hana, Anata ga Motomeru Mono, Watashi wa Koneko
Fukami Chie, 3L, yana, Shibayan/Shibayan Records

I framed this album.

わたしはこねこ “Watashi wa Koneko” has the longest lead in of a vocal song (that isn’t split into separate tracks) I’ve ever encountered. (2:36)

This post is already too long, so I decided just to list things for the final section. I thought about mentioning Sekkenya/Zekkenya, but you all know all about them already, and I’ve already ranted on about their classics (which I only discovered around C76 anyway)

Anticipating C82

(^I don’t have a great camera.)

I have very specific tastes, I can’t can’t be comprehensive, so don’t stop here. Really now.

As time goes on I’ll add to the commentary, but I thought I might as well get this thing up. It’s not even a week until C82 (Comiket 82, Summer 2012, August 10-12).

00 – ZUN/上海アリス幻樂団’s 伊弉諾物質~Neo-Traditionalism of Japan. “Izanagi Busshitsu” [*]

I’m beyond myself with excitement for this one, and I’ll probably rush to translate the story just like last time. I’m most excited for the Heartfelt Fancy remix, and of course all the originals. :D

01 – 凋叶棕/RD-Sounds’ 騙 -katari- [*]

Excuse me while I fall apart. This music reconstructs me as a perfect being. I’m extremely psyched for the lyrics, and excited about both the album’s theme of lies, and its original track.

[01/B-Side] Tie Story’s サブタレイニアン・ゴミ屑・ローズ “Subterranean Gomi-Kuzu Rose” [*]

There are two tracks with samples and they’re both fantastic. I’m also psyched for the story. I’m kinda on the look out for some good, tasteful (tasteful has nothing to do with “purity” in its love) R-18 too. (The story’s R-18).

02 – サリー (Sally)’s アイス “Ice” [*]

This crossfade is fantastic. NSY and ワニ just keep on surprising me with their excellent arrangements, and IZNA’s growing on me even more. Ranko I’ve always loved for the powerful stuff, Chata’s voice works great for the calmer stuff, IZNA’s best for the stranger stuff (which is slowly becoming my favorite kind), Merami’s excellent for the atmospheric stuff (which usually isn’t exactly the kind of stuff she does). Always breaking my expectations this group….

02 – 東京アクティヴNEETs (Tokyo Active NEETs)’ 東方爆音ジャズ3 “Touhou Bakuon Jazz 3” [*]

Just listen to the damn thing. I love these guys when they jam out hard “explosive” (their words not mine) jazz. I’ll be listening to this one for a very long while after it comes out.

[02/B-Side] Sprite Wing’s 幻想郷茶房~tea for two~ [*]

This is a short, 4-track mini album for all you smooth jazz lovers. I’m more of a hard jazz fan overall, but this is smooth jazz done right, so I decided to put it right next to Tokyo Active NEETs as a “B-Side”. Shibayan didn’t contribute a track, but he did the mixing and mastering (which he usually/often does for Sprite Wing).

04 – 死際サテライト (Shinigiwa Satellite)’s Signs EP [*]

Fantastic demo (of the 2nd track, 変遷ウロボロス “Henkan Uroboros”) It looks like this album’ll even been better than the last, and reminds me a bit of Dark Castle EP (though that might just be because it’s Merami in the demo). There’s a reason I’m addicted to these guys. Garage band-ish analog rock emo music never sounded so good. (I grew up with this stuff).

05 – 豚乙女 (Buta-Otome)’s ボウリング “Bowling” [*]

A great original album that’s as Buta-Otome as Buta-Otome can be. This album sounds considerably better than their Touhou album this time around, in my opinion. When a lot of groups start putting out originals (especially in the very beginning), there’s something lacking in either melody or beat. Arranging’s all about style and making something more complex, but you’re given a base to start with – sort of like a writing prompt (I guess?), but this album has none of the aforementioned problems. It’s bursting with character, utilizing all of the grand sense of style Buta-Otome has built up album after album. Tarantula (→Tarantella) keeps on that wonderful little high-pitched high pace type of song that I’ve secretly liked a lot.

05 – Alstroemeria Records’ The World Destination [*]

Yeah!!!! There are lots of PC-98 tracks with a great beat – this is just the kind of stuff I love from Alstroemeria. There’s even an arrangement of Crimson Dead!! >:D Apart from “Crimson Dead”, I especially love “In the Flickering” and “Innocent Treasures” (mican* fan here). Fall Out (original track) is sounding pretty awesome too. As is tradition, I’ll probably rip right through the translation of this as soon as it comes out. Nothing completely grabs me (like the last couple of albums), but Alstroemeria hasn’t disappointed me in a real long time.

05 – 鶫 -Tsugumi-‘s Major Ignition [*]

It sounds like Sally with a couple of dials changed on genre. I really like the vocals and it really feels like something I could listen to. Less Rokk (but still that awesome guitar!) more Idiosyncracy here. I’ll have to see where this offshoot goes. I like to see some of that “distorted circus” like elements we saw in Sally’s last album floating around. Depending on where this goes I might like this more… we’ll have to see. Anyway I’m very excited. If anything, it reminds me of “Poltergeist” (OP for Ghost Hound) in the way it feels, but all that jazz is done on the guitar.

No-pan Toyosatomimi-no-Miko!

08 – ピズやの独房/Pizuya’s Cell’s CORONeT [*]
08 – ピズやの独房/Pizuya’s Cell’s Prunus Centifolia [*]

These two albums are the mixture of a few new tracks and vocalizations of Pizuya x MyonMyon’s Second Album “Prunus Subhirtella” which is one of their best (“The Grimoire of Alice” level but cleaner). The last time they did something like this was “Resurrection Ballad” which wasn’t quite well received (I liked it alright though), but we have a variety of vocalists tackling tracks this time, not just YAMAGEN, and this is with a post-“Star”-Album Pizuya so I think they vocalizations are done much better. This is really a 2-DISC album as opposed to two separate albums, but I guess if I really have to distinguish them, … Prunus Centifolia has the slightest tinge more of that “Requiem” feeling.

10 – Alice’s Emotion’s Crimson Tempest [*]

Actually pretty damn fantastic. I’m pleasantly surprised. It sounds different from Alice’s Emotions recent albums I think, with more of a “strange and mysterious” feel to many of the tracks, others sound more interesting or just have a better beat.

10 – ZYTOKINE’s gold* [*]
10 – ZYTOKINE’s silver†[*]

These albums are stellar. Silver and Gold. I’ve been off and on about ZYTOKINE recently, but I love these. They’re full of a smooth kind of energy. I love every track and am looking forward to translate them.

13 – EastNewSound’s BlazeOut [*]

This might actually restore my faith in ENS to 62% (Before it was at about 18%). If feels much more promising than the last four. I still hold Felsic Mirage as ENS’s absolute peak, and hope they’ll outdo themselves one day.

13 – Cutie and Headshaking Sounds/C.H.S’s So Many Materials [*]

Fun with unusual combinations and beats. Rizna love.

15 – 子猫奪回屋 (Koneko-Dakkaiya)’s Acceleration ~幻想胡蝶糸~ [*]

This group goes by the tagline: 『Ultimate Rock、No Programming』. This time around Merami’s singing all the vocals for them, so they caught my attention. It’s a great short album, not quite as strong or powerful as others on this list, but the Bad Apple!! track and the Greenwich in the Sky track are both absolutely awesome.

16 – じゃねっと亭 (Janet-Tei)’s 夢の通い路 “Yume no Kayoiji” [*]

A short six-track that’s a little rough around the edges, but I like the feeling put behind each track, and it’s got a good light analog rock feel to it. This one’s a Ten Desires only album. It’s worth looking into. I’m still getting over that the vocals are all done by a guy named ななせ.

17 – CROW’SCLAW’s Acoustic Episode [*]

A good short acoustic mini-album. I’ve never been really attracted to the circle, but Taka is a great guitarist, and I’d never say otherwise. Maybe I should start keeping track again, I really liked their first 2-3 albums.

17 – EastNewSound’s Limited Dimension [*]

I can’t put my finger on it, maybe it’s more airy? But I think this one far better than their last original album.

[17/B-Side] Kirin’s AO (Vocaloid 3) Track “いつだってすぐ側に”: [NicoNicoDougaLink]

Great Vocaloid 3 track up for honorable mention alongside Limited Dimension. It’s good.

19 – 発熱巫女~ず (Hatsunetsumikos’) Starlight Prelude [*]

Got that jazzy feel to it, and I’m liking it. Especially loved the last track, but that might just be because I really love 陽花’s voice.

20 – Syrup Comfiture/Syrufit’s White Clear [*]

It’s got a … well very “clear” sound to it and a “white” quality too, but that’s probably me over thinking things. It’s smooth like Tito’s vodka. I like Shibayan’s track, but I haven’t heard a “smooth” track from him in a while, so it’s kinda strange. I’m not -really- excited about it, but there’s a few good tracks, I’ll probably be looking forward to Back Door and 我亲爱傀儡, but the whole album’s got a good atmospheric nature.

21 – FELT’s Little Planet [*]

FELT has kind of been all the same, but I’ll definitely be sure to check this one out. “Little Nova” really grabbed me and none of the tracks feel mediocre. Overall it’s better than usual, but I can’t really put my finger exactly on why.

Basically while I’ve ended up ignoring some of the more recent FELT albums, there’s a pretty good chance I won’t with this one.

22 – 豚乙女 (Buta-Otome)’s 8 -eight- [*]

Sounds like Sadistic Brownie, but slower and meshes a bit better – but well… it has the same problem as Sadistic Brownie. Buta-Otome’s instrumentals are MADE for Ranko, and no one can sing ’em better. I liked the avatars for everyone though hahaha. :3

23 – Lydia Grave’s カニッツァの花迷宮 “Kaniesa’s Flower Labyrinth” [*]

Original album. I went to listen to this xfd because I like 深水チエ and she sings the third track. While it doesn’t jump out at me too much, it is nice and reminds me of good 2000s anime themes – kinda.

24 – Amateras Records’ Unlogical Trick [*]

Not bad, but nothing really jumped out at me. I’m looking more to ENS right now. Part of the problem might be that Imperishable Night arranges usually have to go the extra mile for me to like them, and there are a lot on this album.

kors k S2TB Files2:Activate [*]

soft J-core, with some remixes :) Into the Night~

colis records’ Mother Notes [*]

Shibayan has a track, it’s Mother arranges.

少女病 (Shoujobyou/Girl Disease) 創傷クロスライン “Soushou Crossline” [*]

I still need to catch up on the full collection of these things… All of these albums usually tell a story, and RD-Sounds’ participates in the arrangements, so many->most of them are great.

Hardcore Tano*c’s Hardcore Syndrome 6 [*]

This one’s not actually C82, but it come out at almost the same time. The XFD is wonderful.
