Like 世界秘封倶楽部化計画 // Sekai Hifuu Club-ka Keikaku // World Secret Sealing Club-ification Plan, this is another triumphant sounding song, with lyrics that are even darker than before.

This song is a perfect match for 紫咲ほたる // Murasaki Hotaru, because her absolutely beautiful voice makes the contrast between the melody and lyrics even more stark than if nayuta or Merami provided vocals.

A twisted love song, reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet.

ああ夜が降りてくるよ ← that’s when the poison sets in and you start to go blind.

Notes:

• “I will find every exit…” – literally an “I want to…” construction, but the intent is firmer, so I translated it as a statement of determination (which parallels the previous statement referencing intention).

• “I must admit, what I saw in your eyes was breathtakingly beautiful—frustratingly so” – this line is too long, but shortening it sacrifices too much.

• “as if you were human” – this phrase is pulling so much weight, it’s astounding, reflecting distance, envy and longing.

• “Now fly, my shooting stars! / Weighted with countless emotions!” – the “my shooting stars” part of this line is 100% inference. The original Japanese conjures up an image of cheering on the flight path of something, with a masked word in the second line allowing for a doubled meaning of weight and emotion—as if Renko is projecting her emotions onto that something to (help) make it fall. You can of course interpret this scene as a literal meteor impact and the song’s illustration reflects that, but the rest of the song suggests that it is metaphorical. (Renko herself bemoans the fact that the world will not simply end on its own.)
