東方萃夢想 Touhou Suimusou (Hatsunetsu Mix.)

^ The Opening for Touhou Kinema Kan I :D

Woo, Finals Season really is rough. It’s the first time in a while I’ve had to write so many final papers all at once. (This is why there’s been a scarcity of posts lately).

In other news, Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei is great, I’ll probably make a post about it when I have some more free time – “I wonder if Icarus would have made it, it he just didn’t flap his wings…~”. I think I’ve saved up enough funds proper to make it through my Japan stay; one of my figures (Kataoka Yuuki) got delayed :<, but this means I can ship her with another figure saving me money in the end; I starting playing through a VN seriously for the first time, "Osanajimi wa Daitouryou ~ My Girlfriend is the President." (I wanted something simple and non-serious the first time around), and it's some hilarious mixed with a bit of utter lame, but all in all good. More later.

Note:
東方萃夢想 Touhou Suimusou is the main theme and title of Touhou 7.5 Immaterial and Missing Power and means “Eastern Gathering Reverie”, though you can go with the play on words of musou meaning peerless – the gathering of the strongest members of Gensoukyou to fight… etc. etc.

“The children of the moon who sometimes love,” it’s an ateji with the kanji. 愛でる/愛でたし==芽出度し/芽出る ; so you also have the connotation “to put forth/out buds”.

YU-MU Lyrics / Translation (Touhou Kinema Kan II OP 2)

I love Yuuka.

Notes:

YU-MU = 幽夢 (Ghostly Dream or “Inanimate Dream” by ZUN). The symbol 幽 (Yuu) also in Yuuka’s name, is also used in the words ghost, faint, dark, shut-away, enclosed, elegant, entrancing etc. In part an oxymoron, because animism is the belief that all things hold souls, “inanimate” which is what I’ll use for 幽 when there’s not a better word to describe the compound, will be closer to mysterious, ghostly – an afterlife/lifeless elegant feeling. So a soul-like existence that can’t be quite described as “life”, but some how more and somehow less.

Kogasa Tatara :D – my favorite character of the UFO Demo when it first came out.

This is from Hatsunetsu Miko’s C77 Album “Re:Starlights &An Umbrella” :D – I think it’s used in Touhou Kinema Kan II – at least it was in the background of the Kogasa Tatara Windchime tutorial video (nico): [link]

The main theme used in Touhou Kinema Kan 1 :D (Which is absolutely fantastic :D) I think it came out Reitaisai 6, but I’m not really all that sure.

TLNotes:
“quiet moon” is really “speechless/wordless moon” – I used quiet to go along with the title.
Since there’s a lot of English in the song I put the translation in italics so there would be less confusion. I also put “translations” after English stanzas to keep everything consistent. The stanza’s are arranged according to my whims, because I don’t know how it’s actually structured :P
