Zen ~然~
Paulownia is “the princess tree” and was traditionally planted with a girl was born, the wood being made into a cabinet as a gift for her when she married. It’s the kind of box that Kanbaru’s devil’s arm was placed in, as well as the severed head in Mouryou no Hako.
There’s probably a lot more meaning that can be pulled from this song than I can guess.
I would guess the narrator is Renko, but if you put enough emphasis on “this isn’t a dream is it?” it could just as easily be Merry.

paulownia
wasurenaideiru
sore wa kanashikute tada kanashikute
hitori dake ni kikoeru uta mitai
Paulownia
I cannot forget
It does nothing but to fill me with sadness
As if I am listening to a song only I can hear
The air is clear, the water crystal, and there is no one to be heard
I wonder where I am… This isn’t a dream, is it?
haizai no yama kara nobiteta
te wo hikiagetara toki ga modoreba
machitsudzuketeru kurushimi wa
If I pulled on the hand stretching out from
This mountain of scrapped wood, and time was rewound,
Would this pain I endure in waiting end?
paulownia
asayake ni tokeru
soko wa roukyuu shita hate no wakarejima
kataritsugu monogatari yo
Paulownia
Melting into the sunrise
Was an aged and decrepit island of farewells
A story that will be told generations on
paulownia
doko ni ireba ii
saki e wataru fune ni mikagirareta mono ga
asase ni shagami komu
Paulownia
Where should I stay?
Judged to be of no worth, the ship crossing ahead has forsaken me
As I fall upon my knees in the shallows
On the further shore I see a rainbow ripped to shreds, how strange
But in the end, as you are not here, it’s all the same to me
ten’ to chi no sakaime made
sazanami ga todoiteitara ii no ni
dare hitori to shite nokosazu
If these ripples would only reach
To the horizon between heaven and earth
Leaving not a soul behind…
kioku to wa yukishiro
mirai to wa ashita no koto da
Memories are like melting snow
The future is nothing but tomorrow
paulownia
hanashikaketeite
inochi hitotsu dake motte
kareru made hana wa sakubeki deshou kara
Paulownia
I speak to you
May you hold your single life
For you should flower before you wither away
paulownia
namioto ni tsumare
kaze ni sarasareta machi ga
nagiharawareteshimau made no uchi ni
Paulownia
Before you are plucked in the
Sounds of waves, as this city is given
Unto the winds and everything is swept away…
