Kimi ni Tsumugu Shirabe

Nine

Sponsored by: SH

A little absinthe helped set the mood.

What’s kind of interesting is that this song talks around a story rather than giving the story – maybe the other tracks on the album tell of the story — or it’s purposefully meant to be a mystery, as the final unsung line suggests.

Notes:
The first and final stanzas in 「」 are not sung.

Bisque Doll: ‘bisque’ is a type of unglazed porcelain
Adagio: Italian for “slowly”, a common musical term for slow tempo
Vibrato: Italian for “vibrated”, a common musical term for a note varying in pitch
Pizzicato: Italian for “pinched” or “plucked”, a common musical term for plucking a stringed instrument rather than using the normal method (such as a bow or key press).
Allegro: Italian for “lively or cheerful”, a common musical term for a fast tempo

“It was a story untold, left only to waste away in secret.”

nibiiro no sora yakata ni hibiku adagio
tooi hi no yume hakanaku yureru
kagerifukaku tozasareta heya no naka
nidoto modoranu mabayui hikari

The sky grey, an adagio plays through this mansion
Like a dream, memories of long past faintly shimmer
But to this closed off room locked in deep shadow
That brilliant light which once was, will never return

glass no hitomi ni wa nani utsusu no?
nukegara no kimi boku dake no bisque doll

What do your glass eyes see?
O my bisque doll, the shell of who you once were

Ah vibrato

ah vibrato ga kakattemo yuriugokasenai yo
ah karoyaka na pizzicato hazumanai kimi no kokoro
yoru no tobari taiyou no kakuren’bo akatsuki ga ichiban’ kurakute

Oh, not with a vibrato can I shake you
Oh, not with a lively pizzicato can I make your heart dance
The sun still hides behind the curtain of night, darkest before the dawn

tokei no hari wo tometa heya no madobe ni
hikari to yami ga munashiku odoru
are wa sukoshi mukashi no hanashi tragedy
monogatari no makuake wa kimi no muku na yasashisa

On the windowsill in a room where the clocks have gone still
Light and darkness dance lifelessly
A tragedy it was, not so long ago
When the curtain rose, it did over your cherubic kindness

imubeki sorairo sae sukitooteita
totonowanu douki wa allegro
tada tada tada sou mitsumete mimamotteirarereba yokattan’da
sono hohoemi towa ni to negau shun’kan’

Even that cursed blue sky was clear then
My heart racing in an erratic allegro
Oh, how happy I would have been just to watch over you
But the moment I wished your smile to last forever…

arashi ga sugite nokotta no wa kimi no katachi dake?

After the storm had passed, is this — this shape of you all that is left?

hajimaru koyoi mo futari no solitude
nukegara no kimi boku dake no bisque doll

The night falls again tonight on our solitude
O my bisque doll, the shell of who you once were

Ah vibrato

ah yubi wo suberitsutau ne wa kuruoshii hodo no amoroso
tsuyoku kizamu pizzicato itami seoitsudzuketemo
ah vibrato orikasanete yurasu tsuki no kiseki

Oh, this melody playing from my fingertips is a crazed amoroso
No matter the pain I feel from this intense pizzicato
Oh, I weave layer upon layer of vibrato, swaying the path of the moon

ah tomedonai inori nosete kimi ni tsumugu shirabe

Oh, with unending prayers, this melody I play for you

yoru no tobari owaranai kakuren’bo asayake wo hitasura yumemite

Unrelenting, the sun still hides behind the curtain of night as I dream only of the dawn

“A secret garden for two, this story’s end lies only within their hearts.”
