Jiyuu e no Sanka

Aya theme, but I’m taking Hatate because of the album art (「・ω・)「 (It’s also easy to imagine that the first line is something Aya said that Hatate heard.) (It might not really be “Hatate” but it it Hatateっぽい – your argument is invalid.) ((The alternate argument of course is that Hatate is saying the nasty things in the first section and this is Aya. – RD has hinted that the first might be Hatate and the second Tenkoshi. “Which means that Hatate is an important enough person to Aya to deal a fatal blow, in other words!!!!”))

The music and lyrics were originally written by RD-Sounds, but apparently the music for the chorus part was thrown together at the last minute because Kisida forgot to record something/bring the music to the recording… or something like that. I still think it came out well.

Thank you RD, for putting most of the doubled words in quotes this time. ^^;

Oh, the usual disclaimer that I never believe I’ll be able to give anything RD writes proper justice.

Notes:

I had to break some of the lines because they were too long to fit. (I put long spaces for the kanji/romaji and single space per break for the translation).

“the wind: ***” – the word is pronounced “wind” but the lyrics have another word *** written instead.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown:
Free/Freedom
Free of mind, a buddhist term for “free of obstructive thoughts”/Insentient
Clear, a computer term for blank, space, null.
Illusion, or fantasy
Describes a state in which you dash so quickly towards an enemy that they cannot avoid you. I used “unbound”. I won’t lie – I was tempted to use “limit break”.
I, me, myself.

sono yukue wo shirazu tomo, tada, suki na you ni nagarereba ii to.

“Even if you don’t know where you’re headed, you should always go with your own flow.”
I suppose I’ve always dreamed of living life so free.

saigo ni tashikameta no wa itsu na no?”
              tsukarechattari toka shitari shinai no?”

“Hey, Why don’t you take a look in the mirror?
Do you have any idea what your face looks like?
When’s the last time you cared to check?”
“Hey, You know you’re always going on with that polite tone of yours?
It’s a bit idiotic – Doesn’t it tire you out at all?”

“kiyou na you de, hon’tou wa bukiyou nano ka mo ne? an’ta.”

“You always look like you know what you’re doing,
but you really are clumsy and tactless aren’t you?”

sasuga no watashi mo ashi wo tometeshimaitaku naru kedo.

Et cetera.
Throughout each busy day, with the occasional unkind comment wearing me down,
Even I want to stop everything every now and then.

sou iu toki ni wa, sou.
sora ni kono mi wo makase.

But whenever I feel that way,
I just release myself to the sky.

– “kaze” ni naru.
– “kaze” ni naru.

– I become the wind: free.
– I become the wind: emptied.

tobu koto ni. akuru made wa. muteki de irareru hazu to.

By flying, until I’ve had enough, I can be invincible.

– “kaze” ni naru.

– I become the wind: unbound.

unaru kazakirioto wo shite,
jiyuu e no sanka wo utau no da.

With my wings slicing through the roaring wind,
I sing a hymm to freedom.

“nee, itsumo sou yatte kirawareteshimaisou na koto wo yatte,
                  itsuka ookega shichattari shinai no?”

“Hey, Don’t you have any manners, tramping into someone else’s territory?
Is this what you do? Trespassing in the name of reporting?
Do you really like getting yourself into scrapes like this?”
“Hey, If you keep doing things to make others hate you,
You know, someone’s really going to do you in one day don’t you?”

“youryou yosasou de an’gai kurounin’ nano ka mo ne? an’ta.”

“You act like everything’s under control,
but you’re just barely hanging on aren’t you?”

nado to,
sasuga no watashi mo ashi wo tometeshimaitaku naru kedo.

Et cetera.
Beaten with “impressions” of me that won’t be any use in an article,
Even I want to stop everything every now and then.

sou iu toki ni wa, sou.
daichi ni wakare wo tsuge.

But whenever I feel that way,
I part ways with the ground.

– “kaze” ni naru.
– “kaze” ni naru.

– I become the wind: free.
– I become the wind: clear.

Even if I’m small, I’m a fragment of a grander, endless beyond.

– “kaze” ni naru.

– I become the wind: illusion.

unaru kazakirioto wo shite,
jiyuu e no sanka wo utau no da.

With my wings slicing through the roaring wind,
I sing a hymm to freedom.

sono yukue wo shirazu tomo, tada, suki na you ni nagarereba ii to.

“Even if you don’t know where you’re headed, you should always go with your own flow.”
I suppose I’ve always dreamed of living life so free.

dakara, watashi wa.

And so –

– “kaze” ni naru.

– I become the wind: free.

jibaku shisou na conflict, sono subete wo uchiyatte.

I break down every conflict that tries to tie me down.

– “kaze” ni naru.

– I become the wind: myself.

unaru kazakirioto wo shite,
jiyuu e no san’ka wo utau no da.

With my wings slicing through the roaring wind,
I sing a hymm to freedom.

jiyuu e no san’ka wo utau no da.

I sing a hymm to freedom.

Definitely the best song on the album.
