oboetenai kedo

A mirage flickering in the distance is, for some reason, nostalgic to me
The day I was born, someone calling – “One, Two, Three!!!!!”
It’s not like I remember though.

aa akai kioku wa yorokobi
jaa shiroi mirai wa nani?

Ah, if crimson memories are happiness,
What is a white future?

soko ni aru mono tada sore dake ga aru
osore nozomi subete ga tadatada soko ni aru

What is there is simply what is there.
Fear, hope, everything is simply there.

nani mo sezu aruitetemo nani mo kizutsuketeiru hibi
ichi, ni, san, shi, yubi ori kazoeta tsumi
hitotsu fueteiru

Even if you don’t do anything, as days go by you’ll always end up hurting something, someone.
“One, two, three, four” – I count my sins on my fingers.
There’s another one.

aa aka to shiro wo tsunagu michi
nagaku nagaku mijikai

Ah, the road that connects crimson and white
Is long, yes long, but short.

soko e yuku made nani ga dekiru no ka? to
sono kotae wo sagashite tsudzuketeireba ii

“Until I cross it, just what can I do?”
As long as I keep searching for the answer, everything will be alright.

soko ni aru mono tada sore dake ga aru
osore, nozomi, subete ga tadatada soko ni aru
yume mo torou mo ai mo shiri mo kai mo
zetsubou mo taikutsu mo soko e mukau shirabe

What is there is simply what is there.
Fear, hope, everything is simply there.
Dreams, vain effort, love, chaos, remonstration
Despair, boredom, it’s all just a melody taking us onward.

    Question about (支離/shiri)

How come you chose to translate it as “logic”?
Every online source I’ve come across gives the meaning as “fragmented/incoherent”, which would seem to be more in line with “illogical/nonlogical”, if anything.

    ie http://zh.glosbe.com/zh/en/%E6%94%AF%E9%9B%A2
(Chinese-English, but Kanji/Japanese, so same difference)

    • I’ll change it to chaos – I think when I was originally translating it I had it tying into a “falling apart” or something like that, but it didn’t end up that way. It usually only appears in Japanese as 支離滅裂… but yeah, sorry about that, that definitely should be the opposite.
