Itsuka Furu Ame, Sakura

^ [Pixiv-Link] I love this guy, seriously.

Requested by: Sera

This song makes me so sad; It’s so beautifully sad… I had to translate it first T^T

Note:
For various reasons, I hardly ever translate “Sakura” as anything but “Sakura”, the name of the Japanese Cherry Tree/Cherry Blossom.

“the sky under which we wished for our wedding…” it’s more like – “the day of ceremony” but well, I think it’s a safe assumption.

 Itsuka Furu Ame, Sakura
Rain and Cherry Blossoms Will One Day Fall
Vocal:
Arrange: koma’n /
Lyric: szse
Circle: Halozy
Album: Crescendo Planet
Event: C76

Bonyari ame no nioi, machiwabita haru sae, mou sugu yuku
Sagashiteta kagi toka dou demo ii wa, datte kono te ni modoru sekai nante,
 mou nai no dakara

With the faint scent of rain, the spring I so waited for will soon pass.
The key I searched for… none of that matters anymore. After all, I no longer
have any world I can return to.

Mari hazumeba, awa no you ni kieteku

Once the chance has been thrown, it disappears like foam on water.

Sakura-sakura, dare ka ga utatteru, hora, chiru uta, rurara-to, musekinin ni
Aa, sakura-sakuran, kono me ja mienakute, kuru hi no nai yume wo miru

“Sakura, Sakura…” Someone is singing. See how their song scatters, “lu-la-la,”
 taking no responsibility…
Ah, in these sakura delusions, I see what my eyes cannot see, a dream of a day
 that will never come…

Mada ashikase, aza no you ni, nokoru

Still these shackles, like bruises remain.

Mou watashi, kimi ni aenai kurai no koto nara, tayasuku kimochi koroseru no
Nee, dakara keshite, aru hi ga konai koto, shijijitu wo nozonda sora

If I am to be this way, ever no longer able to see you, I can easily kill
 all of my feeling.
So please, erase it; our days that will never come, the sky under which we wished
 for our wedding…

Ima, uzuki koete, todaeta jikan ume “tara” “reba” toka kotoba de asonderu
Mada hosoki koe, dare ka ga utatteru, hora, chiru uta, saku uta wo

Now as April moves on, I fill my time with interspersed would have’s
 and might have been’s
In a soft thin voice, someone still sings. See how their song scatters,
 how it blossoms…

My, I had tried to translate this some some time ago; it’s so beautiful. But I failed terribly and yours is 3574309671x better!

Actually, do you mind if I tell a small story here? Whenever I tried to find a song to translate, there was already a translation on TouhouWiki signed by kafkafuura. I got really upset, but after seeing your awesome blog, I’ve become a fan! Please keep up the good work (ノ´∀`)ノ~♫

I feel so flattered…

If it’s a song that moves me (like this one) I often end up tearing my hair out worrying about whether I’ve done it any justice ^^; so it’s always great to hear back.

I’ve kind of gotten to the point, myself, where I don’t mind going back over something that’s already been translated even a thousand times, because I’m half doing it for myself. I like really breaking apart the songs and trying to understand them in a universal way… or something like that – can’t really describe it, but if you’re translating songs too you must know! So – you don’t always have to go for the unclaimed territory (though especially after events I like being fast – Wahaha).

But really, I’m really glad you like what I’m able to get through ^^; it means a lot when someone who knows more about the language says I’ve done a good job.

Those TouhouWiki guys must be busy though – I know a while back someone came by to ask permission to copy everything to the wiki – I’ve probably only put one of my translations up there all by myself. Hahaha.
