Haruka na Hibi (Bungaku Shoujo Movie Theme)

Requested by: Makoto Sawatari

A wonderful ending theme to a wonderful movie.

 Haruka na Hibi
 Faraway Days
[eufonius]

I’ll never forget that day
White flowers were blossoming
When I saw you there faintly
Your braided hair
Waving in the wind…

Here I pray
Always and forever
That true happiness showers
Over your slender shoulders

I’ll be here waiting for you..

Those faraway days
Our room was bathed in the light of the setting sun..
Closing the the time we shared
I’d write a new story

I’ll never forget the happiness I felt
When I first met you
Nor the little dreams
Lit faintly at the
Ends of your braids

Your hand that touched my cheek
Your hand that grasped my shaking fingers
Always and forever
I’ll embrace the warmth they’ve left behind

I watched beside you
As the shadows grew
On this scene so beautiful
I wanted to cry

Because I felt how impermanent it was

You told to me
That your only wish
Was for our feelings to cross
So that we could look on forever

Now as I close my eyes
Your words rise in my heart
Your gentle smile
Both so brilliant

I’ve waited for you

Those faraway days
Our room shone in a light that filled every corner
As I’d write another story
Drawing us together

Wait, wasurenai darou~ is a question right?

    • Well, it can be phrased as one, like “I’ll never forget, will I?” but it doesn’t mean so intrinsically, and especially in this context it’s more affirming than questioning, because the statement is self addressed, and because of the preceding “donna toki demo”.

If it were someone saying the statement to someone else it would make much more sense as “You’ll never forget, will you?” – someone seeking an affirmation.

In it’s most basic form, it’s just “to forget” in a negative volitional. ^_^

  1. Nicely translated, I like how you stay close with the text, retaining the same meaning. 5-star.

  2. err.. feeling I mean.
