Jigoku Kakurenbo – Playing Hide and Seek in Hell

Here’s the first song of C78 and the first song I’ve translated since I’ve returned to the states!
It’s Buta-Otome!! Whom I recently met at Chokkana last Thursday :D They’re awesome in person, and put on a great live performance, really capturing the audience.
Also, I really love Ranko’s Older Sister’s lyrics. :D

Here’s my take on the lyrics (which could be wrong, but well – I try):
Parsee (and I’m guessing a few other women) come together and exact jealous revenge over their lost loves and the women who snatched them away. The lost pinky finger I think represents the red string of fate (which attaches pinky to pinky) being cut in a much more violent way – think of another woman biting off your finger and taking it for their own – your red string of fate. The first part, I guess you could say Parsee for example was found, in the since that her love was stolen by another woman, a devil for doing so. But then, the time for revenge, this time she’s the demon looking for not only the woman but the man. You had better hide her, for I’m coming for you. And of course, their all in hell for their hate and crimes against each other.

Pretty image right?
Shabada-baba-baba-ba~~~!

saa nejireta koi mo uso mo minna
todana ni tojikomete nee asobi ni deteoide
aa otoshita koyubi tooku
ima wa kokoro ni togesashite mekuramasu kakurenbo

Come everyone, all your twisted loves and lies!
Shut them in a cupboard, and come over to play!
Ah, the pinky I lost is now far –
Now thorns pierce my heart in this hide and seek of deception!

doko ni kakuretemo oni bakari
doko ni kakuretemo oni bakari

Wherever you try to hide, all you find are demons
Wherever you try to hide, all you find are demons

mou ohisama akaku ochita
tsugi wa sagashiteageru kara ano ko wo kakuseba ii
“mou ii kai” hikuku odoru koe wa akujo no fukanasake
sou jigoku no kakurenbo

Already the sun has set red,
Next I’ll search for you, so should you hide that girl –
“Have you had enough?” comes dancing a deep voice, the deep love of an evil woman
Yes, for we’re playing hide and seek in hell

doko ni kakuretemo oni bakari
doko ni kakuretemo oni bakari

Wherever you try to hide, all you find are demons
Wherever you try to hide, all you find are demons

doko ni kakuretemo oni bakari
doko ni kakuretemo oni bakari, oni bakari, oni bakari

Wherever you try to hide, all you find are demons
Wherever you try to hide, all you find are demons, demons, demons

Oh gosh! I love you for this one! It really helps with getting my Japanese reading together. I really love the 「どこに隠れても鬼ばかり」 line. It is super-classic! Again, thanks a bunch!

    • Buta-Otome is love
      Mizuhashi Parsee is love
      Ambiguous lyrics = love
      Demons = love

Haha – lyrics really are a surprisingly good help for learning Japanese, because they often throw in a lot of the more difficult things in there when you’d least expect it, and working with ambiguity is fun – in a lightly frustrating sort of way (゚◇゚ ).

Oh craaaap, I think this is my favorite Buta Otome song! Could you put the romaji? lol, I’ve been requesting that a lot. I’m sorry.

    • I love this song too!
I took the opportunity to sing along with this as I was adding the romaji in XD.

(My favorite song is still 幻想サテライト :3)
