Necrofantasia Lyrics and Translation

Yukari Album Art from "Lily of the Incas" by K. Misaki

I spent most of my weekend reading the fifth Harry Potter book (and one of my favorites) and so thus my other workings have been fairly meager. I am in the process of translating the Taketori Monogatari (nice and slow) – hopefully I can get the first chapter out in a day or two and then take a break.

I wrote a whole flourishing, stumbling investigation onto Umineko no Naku Koro ni – but since it would be full of spoilers and it’s hardly the least bit organized, I didn’t bother posting it. However yes I am investigating ^^.

Anyway my eyes feel glued open from reading two more chapters of Japanese literary magazine Faust. If anything I might say about it, is that many insensitive people would want it burned burned – and that’s saying something good about the book… It’s funny finding a book in which you find it hard to blink.

Anyway this song, besides being beautiful and all,  is somewhat “sensual” but who could possibly encounter Yukari and not think that she’s definitely sensual? plus look at the title of the song: “Necrofantasia” — so in any case it’s very Yukari. You may believe I have overused the words blossom(ing) and scatter(ing), but repetition is sort of poetic in Japanese, and I have tried to keep that nice image of scattering cherry blossoms dancing all through the night.

You were always looking ahead, as you left me here to stay
In this season of fantasy and dancing cherry blossoms, here I forever wait for you

Even the days when we exchanged kisses, have already changed into memory
Yet no longer can we even touch, and so my thoughts are quickly scattering

I wonder if my hand may reach you? I believe in that alone
These nightly cherry blossoms wrap around me, like a hand reaching out for me

I have always been dreaming, on nights when once again these dancing scattering cherry blossoms touch me,
Even now I still seek you, I keep waiting for you, during this season of restless blossoming, hiding my heart

Although I can feel the warmth of your embrace under these nightly cherry blossoms,
I can not erase all of those times I have cried, suffering
Once again in this land of fantasy I continue to dream,
As the cherry blossoms dance, that behind this scene you are surely there

Although I know that these feelings will not reach your outstretched hand
I am still left with the memories I will not forget, of our warm skin intertwining

I have been searching for you, on nights when once again these dancing scattering cherry blossoms meet me
Even now I still seek you, within these perfect cherry blossoms restlessly blossoming, my heart will not waver

I embrace them, I embrace them so that my heart will not break
During this nights when I have searched for you, lonely and suffering
It will not disappear, your warmth that I hold in your heart forevermore
I will not forget, I must not forget these colorful cherry blossoms

Although I can feel the warmth of your embrace under these nightly cherry blossoms,
I can not erase all of those times I have cried, suffering
Once again in this land of fantasy I continue to dream,
Under these brilliant colorful cherry blossoms, I am here

Feels like she’s singing for Yuyuko.

Still, it’s one of my favorite songs involving Touhou, and can feel some sadness in it.
