Ushiromiya Maria + Strawberry Crisis! Lyrics

It certainly has been a while since I last posted, so I already fail at this National Blog Posting month thing I’ve heard about orz. Of course there’s the fourth of July and such. the independence day of us who reside in the United States, which means that there will be merry making, fireworks, shop sales, and families dragging you all over the place to do all these things – not that it wasn’t enjoyable, but well, I was very busy. In addition I’ve been trying to finish the Harry Potter books in time – and cutting it close (I forgot how long those last ones were, and I have no idea how I read those things in a single day or even two).

Since five days have passed, I have a lot to talk about and will bore you a bit – but this blog’s original purpose was for my own personal benefit, so I don’t feel bad about it ^^. Before this all leaks out of my head, I have done the following things in the past few days: I finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire; I bought a bed that will in fact fit comfortably in a closet (from IKEA the land of Swedish wonders); I watched Umineko no Naku Koro ni, and started to obsess over it – not because the first episode was particularly good, but because “Higurashi no Naku Koro ni”‘s first episode was loads worse, and yet ended up with a fantastic plot (for the most part); I saw clips of Bakemonogatari (director: Akiyuki Shinbou, original work: NISIOISIN), and was impressed and excited; additionally I saw an old friend during the fireworks’ show, which was nice.

As a side note: I really feel useless at work (at my secondary job), because I’m answering phone calls all day with out really being able to answer any questions. At least at my primary job I fell like I’m being paid for a reason – I basically become an answering machine – and given the fact that this campus has shutdown the voicemail system I suppose I’m doing something, but it still doesn’t feel like much D:

Now for the star of the post, Ushiromiya Maria. I do not know yet much about her, nor am I willing to research, because I don’t want to have the story spoiled, but I like her already. I’m in the process of drawing her in fact. Surprisingly, her “uuu~” is already starting to make leaps and bounds over “nipa~”, and I like everything about her from her black king chess crown, to her clothes, to her shoes, to her devilish smile in the opening sequence. I wouldn’t quite say I’m a yandere fan, but I am all for murderous intent and insanity – it’s pretty after all, especially after the blood starts to paint my favorite color all over the place :F – For those who have seen the first episode of Umineko no Naku Koro ni, (don’t worry this isn’t a spoiler – trust me ^^;) you should have noticed the blurry plaque with all the text about the witch’s instructions… I’ll translate it ^^. Similar to the feeling I felt after the first arc or Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, I already want to look for clues, and that would be the first. Also, about Maria – although she’s a fourth grader and only nine, plus acts like she’s more like three or four half the time, she seems almost like a savant – extremely intelligent when it comes to some things, but not so much when it comes to others. She pulled out notes and a copy of the passage on the plaque in the hall, meaning her reading and writing are above normal standards at the very least. You may be tempted to find clues from the adults conversations – but there’s not enough information yet, and I can hardly remember their names anyway.

Completely off-track,  doesn’t Ushiromiya Battler remind you of like an alternate 2p color version of Phoenix Wright? He did the whole pointing thing and everything in the opening.

Because I was lazy and busy and yet didn’t quite want to go two posts in a row without showing anything productive, I chose a very easy song to translate this time, and it sort of fits, don’t you agree? – It’s about magic, there’s a witch in Umineko, the title’s got the word “crisis” in it, and unless I’m very much mistaken there’s going to be a crisis in Umineko, and… let’s just pretend for a moment that Ushiromiya Maria enjoys eating strawberries.

Yumemi - Strawberry Panic - Stripe Pattern

Translators note: A “magic square” is usually a circle, but it’s usually translated magic square, as it has a lot of squares in it. Accept this. – This is the theme song for Yumemi (a name which means literally “dreaming”) the final stage boss of Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream (Touhou 3) She is often adorned with Strawberries, I forget why, and attacks with large pink tinted crosses of light. She is a scientist from another dimension who stumbled into Gensoukyou and is trying desperately to prove the existence of magic. Canon states she was defeated by Reimu, whilst arguing whether her powers were magic or not (Reimu claimed them to be shrine and sealing powers, quite different from magic)

Strawberry Crisis!!

Vocal:
Arrange: Masayoshi Minoshima
Lyric: Haruka

Time and space with magic
Time and space with magic
Time and space with magic 私の地
Time and space with magic

This place is a world with time and space with magic
This land is filled with time and space with magic
Everything reflected in my eyes is simply splendid
My land filled with time and space with magic
My own time and space with magic
Within these dimensions wavering back and forth

I will not wake from this nightmare, If I am to escape it must be now
When it wraps around me it’s useless, It will soon only be too late
When I am enchanted by its sweet fragrance, I can only carry this cross
I cannot escape from you and your magic square made from science

If I awake from within this dimension,
It can come true here, it will come true, for my fantasies.

Time and space with magic
Time and space with magic
Time and space with magic
Time and space with magic

I carry upon my back time and space with magic
This land is filled with time and space with magic
Everything reflected in my eyes is simply splendid
My own time and space with magic
Believe in time and space with magic
Within these dimensions wavering back and forth

I will not wake from this nightmare, If I am to escape it must be now
When I am enchanted by its sweet fragrance, I can only carry this cross

Great translation! I had been looking for one since I bought For Your Pieces. I think it’s the most powerful track on the CD. Thanks again!
